Woodland Country Club provides a warm and welcoming atmosphere, with benefits and activities for all it's members. We emphasize this strongly because Woodland is member-owned. The Board of Directors and Staff serve the members and their guests in a professional and friendly manner to assure that the service, quality and the selection of family activities meet the Members' desires and high standards. Woodland premiered our new Pete Dye designed championship golf course in the spring of 2002. This was the latest work of the legendary golf course architect, Pete Dye. Perhaps no one in the history of the game has done more to transform the face of contemporary golf course design. At Woodland he created an enduring design and visually striking layout that is innovative and bold yet with a classical sensibility that features unforgettable holes that long to be played again and again by golfers of all levels. The genius of the architect has transformed the natural beauty of this land into a shrine to the honorable game of golf. Inside our newly remodeled clubhouse, our amenities include our pub/grill and dining room areas, private conference rooms, beautifully appointed men and women's locker rooms with all the amenities, and outdoor areas, including a patio. The flexibility of the clubhouse design allows our staff to accommodate the various needs of our membership ranging from intimate meeting spaces and private dining to corporate events and wedding receptions.

History

Previously a Championship Course by Bill Diddel In 1952, William H. Diddel, one of the top golf course architects of the era, opened Woodland as a public fee course. As it attracted golfers from the surrounding area, a movement was started to make Woodland a private club. Diddel agreed in the fall of 1955 to lease the property, build a clubhouse and swimming pool if 300 members could be signed by January 15, 1956. This was accomplished in two months. Since that time the course has been improved, first by Diddel as he owned the property, and then by the club after it acquired it from the Diddel family in 1975. Many more changes have been made over the years, including bent grass fairways, new tees and greens of the same bent grass, new bunkers, an enlarged and beautified pond on the Fifth hole, the addition of an impressive lake viewed from the Club's Dining room, and new restrooms on the course. The new clubhouse includes locker room facilities for use by men and women golfers to match the fine golf course they are privileged to enjoy. An enlarged Pro Shop building provides ample space to showcase all the latest golf apparel and accessories desired by the serious golfer. This building also includes storage areas for golf carts and members' bags.

ABOUT OUR CHEF

Chef Joe Kalil came to W.C.C. in Sept. 2003 as an Executive Chef with an extensive background in catering and banquets.  In the past, Chef Kalil has held various Executive Chef positions at Peter's, Pasta Bella, and The Brickyard Crossing Golf Resort.  However, for the six years prior to coming to W.C.C., Joe had been the Executive Chef for Mobile Kiwi Ventures.  This provided Joe with the unique experience and opportunity to focus on all aspects of corporate catering and hospitality functions for various clients primarily in the racing industry.  Their clients included General Motors Racing, Chevrolet, Pontiac, Cadillac, Corvette, Goodyear, and Dan Gurney's All American Racers.  In addition, Joe had several "Racing Series" clients such as, NASCAR, CART, IRL, and American La Mans.

This background, along with his continued national participation in the "Taste of NFL," "Taste of Cart," "Taste of the Nation," and the "Indiana Culinary Classic," makes Joe an outstanding addition to the Woodland C.C. team.
