Congratulations and welcome to Woodland Country Club. Probably you have played our great golf course, enjoyed the pool and hopefully you have enjoyed a wonderful dinner prepared by our excellent kitchen staff. However, Woodland has one additional feature that no other club in the Indianapolis area can claim-our own not for profit organization, The Woodland Christmas Club for Needy Children. Our charity first provided for a family in 1986. As a single mother with 9 children had no way to provide a Christmas for her children so in one evening at the Woodland bar we collected $480.00 and delivered food, a few presents and a tree with decorations the next day.
The next year we decided to raise more money and help as many families as we could. Our Christmas Club has now continued to grow and over our 36years we have worked with over 4,800 families including over 12,000 children and a total of over 21,000 people. We have raised over $3,700,000 and very proud to say that 100% of money we raised goes to the families we assist for the holidays.
Our commitment to the families we help is to provide Thanksgiving food and a Christmas the children will never forget. We deliver around 50 items of food for Thanksgiving and our Christmas delivery is more food, new clothing, new shoes 5-6 wish list items for each child and house hold needs that are requested. Common items requested are beds, bedding, pots and pans, dishes, silverware, glasses, refurbished computers and bicycles and many other items too numerous to mention. The families that we work with each year are suggested by Prevails, a victim's awareness and support organization based in Noblesville and by The Good Samaritan Organization of Hamilton County. We deliver straight to the homes of most of the families, except for Prevail and in that case, we deliver to the Prevail office in Noblesville. We raise our money with two major golf outings in July, the Ladies Charity Golf Tournament and in August we have the Men's Big Apple. At Christmas we ask for donations and during the year we sell gift cards to various local businesses. We are a 501C-3 not for profit organization and all donations are tax-deductible. We hope you enjoy your Woodland membership and we hope you will join and support our tradition of The Woodland Christmas Club for Needy Children.
